The Great Wall, Yellow River and Taihang Mountains -- three themed tourism spots in Shanxi, were promoted in Berlin, capital of Germany on March 9.
Gao Ying, director of Datong Tourism Development Commission, introduced tourism attractions and resources as well as the status quo of the tourism industry in Shanxi at the promotion meeting, inviting German visitors to the province.
Shanxi aimed to further partnerships in more areas between the province and Berlin through the event, while promoting tourist products and services.
Tourism development commissions of cities in Shanxi, Shanxi travel agencies and representatives of tourist attractions in Shanxi attended the event.
Festive celebrations with Shanxi characteristics, including Pingyao International Photography Festival, Pingyao Chinese New Year and Yuncheng Guan Yu International Tourism Festival have attracted many overseas visitors, making Shanxi a popular tourist destination abroad, according to Liu Guosheng, manager of German travel agency China Tours.
Shanxi has been committed to developing tourism brands themed around the Great Wall, Yellow River and Taihang Mountains since 2017, as well as further promoting other Shanxi landmarks such as Mount Wutai, Yungang Grottoes and the Ancient City of Pingyao, all around the world.
The promotion event marked the beginning of Shanxi's tourism promotion tour through Europe. On March 11, Shanxi promoted its attractions in Austria.
