The 2018 China. Shanxi International Recreational Vehicle Camping Expo is being held at Taiyuan Coal Transaction Center, People.cn reported.
Founded in 2016, the expo is an effort by Shanxi province to promote its tourism attractions and create a new source of economic growth.
It is the third year that this kind of exposition has been held in Taiyuan, which runs from April 6 to 8.
This year’s event is being jointly sponsored by Shanxi Provincial Tourism Development Committee, Beijing Tourism Group and China Tourism Automobile and Cruise Association (CTACA), with a theme of “New Life, Great Enjoyment”.
The exhibition has attracted the participation of around 150 businesses, displaying about 400 types of recreational vehicles with values ranging from 40,000 yuan ($6,344) to 3 million yuan.
Other related activities, including a photography competition, a campfire party, local cultural performances and a wild fishing activity will be held during the three-day event.
The first day of the expo saw 30,000 attendees.
Dong Ruijiang, chairman of Shanxi Recreational Vehicle Association, revealed that there are 11 companies involved in the production and refit of recreational vehicles in Taiyuan, Datong, Xinzhou, Taigu and Hejin. Meanwhile, the whole province plans to establish 180 recreational vehicle and self-driving tour camping sites, with around 150 sites under construction and 30 sites due to open shortly.
Dong expressed his hopes that the exposition could serve as a platform to boost purchases of recreational vehicles and the development of Shanxi tourism industry.
