To improve the standard of education available to children from poor backgrounds, Yangquan county in Shanxi province has established a boarding school.
Shouyi School, which opened in 2017, admits pupils for primary and secondary education.
So far, the school has enrolled 411 students with 241 coming from poor households, accounting for 58 percent of the total. And the students from poor families qualify for free accommodation and meals.
