The 2018 China Linfen "Yaowang Cup" national model airplane competition, also the 12th national youth model airplane competition (Shanxi qualifier), was held in Linfen city, North China's Shanxi province, from July 7 to 8.
More than 700 players from 16 provinces and cities participated in the competitions, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong province.
Hosted by the aviation management center of General Administration of Sport of China, Aero Sports Federation of China, Sports Bureau of Shanxi Province, and Linfen municipal government, the event is one of the "ten sports events" in Linfen, which are held to promote the 2018 Shanxi Tourism Development Conference, which is to be held in the city from Sept 19 to 21.
It is also the first national-level model airplane competition held in Linfen.
Competitions in 25 categories took place during the two-day event, including remote control stunt competitions and remote-controlled electric glider competitions.
