An annual opera promotion event targeting students in schools across Shanxi province started at North University of China on Nov 13. The event aims to transmit aspects of China's traditional cultural heritage to younger generations.
The promotion event, made up of operas and opera lessons has been held on four occasions since it was launched in 2015, with opera performers visiting primary and middle schools, as well as universities to promote Chinese opera.
Around 80 percent of Shanxi's schools will get to see at least one opera performance during this year's event.
