The Beijing branch of Datong WIAAT New Energy Industry Technology Research Institute was founded on Jan 19, marking the first time Datong city is incubating companies located outside the city.
Covering 1200 square meters and located less than 10 minutes away from the Zhongguancun Science Park, Peking University and Tsinghua University, the Beijing branch of the institute is a top choice for high-tech startups.
It will focus on attracting startups in the new energy sector. All the startups that settle in the Beijing branch are required to register in Datong. After the incubation period, these startups will be encouraged to operate in Datong or have their R&D and marketing departments in Beijing while manufacturing in Datong.
The main goal of the Datong New Energy Research Institute is to commercialize scientific and technological achievements, a task that many companies in Datong cannot undertake by themselves. By establishing a Beijing branch, we aim to make full use of the talent, technological and location advantages only available in the capital, said Huo Guoqing, chairman of Worldwide Institutes Alliance for Achievements Transformation (WIAAT) which sponsored the Datong New Energy Research Institute.
After the incubation period ends, the departments in the Beijing branch will be transferred to Datong, helping solve the problem of skilled talent shortage in Datong and improve Datong companies' ability in commercializing scientific and technological achievements, he added.
Founded in December 2017, the Datong WIAAT New Energy Industry Technology Research Institute has established a technology commercialization platform and introduced a series of top scientific institutes, talents and technologies for Datong to transform its industrial structure and boost the new energy industry.
