A tourist survey of 60 Chinese cities, for the third quarter of 2013, done by the China Tourism Research Institute, has the city of Datong, Shanxi province, in 19th place, with an index of 75.15, up 4.26 points from the previous quarter, which brought its up from 30th.
The top three slots were taken by Huangshan, Anhui province; Wuxi, Jiangsu province; and Chengdu, Sichuan province. Datong has maintained steady tourism growth in various ways, for example, a one-month service improvement campaign in July, and inspections that targeted illegal businesses in September. These acts helped establish the Datong brand and attracted more tourists from China and abroad.
This national tourist survey is a project of the China National Tourism Administration and covers travel agencies, hotels, scenic spots and management concerning the quality of tourist products and services.
