The construction of the Shanxi Datong Intermediate People's Court and its associated offices has recently acquired a three-star design identification, the highest green building identification in China. It is the first unit in the State judicial system, and also the first public construction in Shanxi province, to receive this.
The city of Datong, in Shanxi province, has been working hard to promote green building construction, based on saving the earth, energy, resources, and the advocacy of a low-carbon life style. There are now 4.66 million sq-m allocated for green buildings in the city, with 11 building programs having been approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
Green building (also known as sustainable building) refers to a construction that is environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout its life-cycle through saving energy, water, and materials, providing people with a healthy and efficient living space. In general, it has a harmonious connection with nature.
According to the Datong municipal construction and energy-saving management center, public welfare projects in Datong this year will use green construction methods during their construction.
