Wang Zhanwu, a member of the Shanxi Association of Oil-Painters and the Shanxi Provincial Artists Association, began painting as a child and later studied painting at Shanxi University in the 1980s. After graduation, he was Datong Daily's arts editor, now he works in newspaper advertising. Still, he has never stopped oil painting, and has especially progressed within the last decade. Many of his pieces, featuring both the suburbs and countryside surrounding Datong, are exhibited across the province.
His paintings use different styles, but almost all of them portray everyday life in Datong. Wang observes his surroundings with great insight, and this is clear through his artistic achievements.
