Although the National Day Holiday was coming to a close, the taste for performances at popular scenic spots in Shanxi province didn't slow down and a group of performing arts projects kept the tourists coming, with tickets to some live shows, such as Ancient Pingyao Once More, and Mount Wutai, selling fast even after the holiday.
During the holiday, there were extra shows of these dramas to satisfy tourist needs, especially Ancient Pingyao Once More, which added 15 shows with an attendance rates at 100 percent and an audience of 24,000 in all.
Some tourists who drove decided to make short trips in the province after the holiday, so, many scenic spots got together to introduce a special "Scenic Travel for 1 yuan" offer on their websites, which resulted in a burst of less-than-$1 ticket buying, while some scenic spots used WeChat and other new media for publicity to meet the demands of a different sort of tourist and increase tourism product sales.
The city of Datong was offering a 1-day tour of its charming older part, a 2-day tour of its folk culture, and other new travel packages, in addition to characteristic tourist routes to volcanic clusters, forests, and Wu Long Gorge. On Oct 6 alone, the province had more than 700,000 tourists, and ticket revenues of 23 million yuan. The five top scenic spots were Mianshan Mountain, Imperial City House, Yuci Ancient City, Pingyao Ancient City, and the Wang Family Cottage. By the end of the holiday, the province had seen 143 flights leave, carrying more than 16,000 tourists and more than 600,000 tourists using its highways.
