Poetry reading in antique county

There was a poetry reading that delighted the literati and artists of Pingyao county, Shanxi province, on Dec 21, organized by its literary association as a way of welcoming the New Year, which attracted local writers and poets to do their interpretation of poems written by President Xi Jinping, Mao Zedong, and classical foreign works, for example, "Song of the Stormy Petrel" by Maxim Gorky. They also did readings of their own work.

The county is planning more of these gatherings and cultural activities for the public, in hopes of bringing some classics back to life and of improving Pingyao culture and promoting the "China Dream".
