Muay Thai champion to hold kung fu contest in Pingyao

Huang Haigang, a Chinese world Muay Thai champion, visited Pingyao on Feb 28 and expressed his intention to hold an international kung fu contest in the county.
An ancient city with traditional culture, Pingyao has many kung fu enthusiasts. A martial arts performance was just organized by Pingyao Martial Arts Association in the county in February.
"I intend to promote the Top King Kung Fu World Series and martial arts in Pingyao," said Huang.
He claimed that the event will focus on spreading kung fu values, including responsibility, solidarity and patriotism, and improve people's heath through practicing Chinese martial arts.
Huang Haigang, born in Jiangxi province in 1985, is an experienced athlete in China Muay Thai team. He has won world contests many times, such as the WCK Intercontinental Muay Thai Championship in 2010.
Pingyao Wantuo
Wantuo, a type of noodle from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), is one of Pingyao's local snacks with a long history.
