PPP funds road building in Pingyao

Pingyao county in North China's Shanxi province began a road construction project supported by a public-private partnership (PPP) on Sept 6.
PPP refers to a partnership between government and privately-owned companies to develop infrastructure and public services, including transportation and municipal engineering.
Jointly developed by local government, Beijing Capital Investment Management Co, and China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Co, the project consists of reconstruction and widening of four roads which stretch 27.5 kilometers in total.
With investment of 214.44 million yuan ($32.74 million), the project will improve transportation infrastructure in the county and facilitate economic growth and development of the tourism industry once complete.

Wantuo, a type of noodle from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), is one of Pingyao's local snacks with a long history.
