Overseas students who study at Shanxi University have the following choices:

(1) Diploma student program: Apply for a bachelor, Master or doctorate degree

(2) Language student program (long-term and short-term): Apply to learn Chinese language and culture

(3) Foundation program: Focus on HSK testing and training

Undergraduate

A diploma will be awarded after the student completes the teaching content stipulated by the teaching program of the 4-6 years’study period and pass the graduation thesis defense. A degree certificate will be given to those who are up to the prescriptions.

Master

A diploma, together with a Master's degree, will be awarded to those who have earned the prescribed credits, completed a graduation thesis and passed the thesis defense over the 2-3 years’study period.

Ph.D.

A diploma, together with a Doctor's degree, will be awarded to those who have earned the prescribed credits, gained certain scientific achievements, completed a PhD thesis and passed the thesis defense over the 4-6 years’study and research period.

Language students

With basic vocabularies and the basic grammar points of Chinese, basic Chinese written and spoken capacity, certain Chinese communicative competence and intercultural communicative competence will be gained after the 1-3 years’systematic study period, so that the requirements of daily life, study and common social contact can be satisfied. The International College of Shanxi University will award qualified students a graduation certificate when the semester comes to an end.

Foundation program

This program is aimed for those students aspiring for an undergraduate, masters or doctorial study program in the higher schools, but who are unqualified in Chinese language knowledge and competence or relevant expertise and intercultural communication to be able to study in the nations higher schools. The semesters range from one to two years in length, and the new HSK test of Level-4, Level-5 and Level-6 will be the primary focus. The applicants for the diploma student program shall firstly study the foundation program. Our school is equipped with Chinese teachers who have a strong teaching ability and have rich experience, with a rate of more than 95% students passing the new HSK test each year.
