Since Jan 1, 2016 Shanxi TV is presenting a 5-part series "The Power of Innovation" to show Shanxi's achievement on scientific and technical innovation through Shanxi News. On Jan 3, a nearly 6-minute documentary was broadcasted to give a special report on Shanxi University's achievement on quantum optics.

Peng Kunchi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the leader of Shanxi University's research on quantum optics. Professor Peng was born in August 1936 in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province.

He had graduated from the department of physics of Sichuan University. Currently, Peng is the head of the photoelectricity institute of the university, academic board deputy director of the State Key Lab of Quantum Optics and Quantum Optics Devices, president of the Shanxi Physical Society, member of the OSA Fellow and editor in chief of Acta Sinica Quantum Optica.
