Shanxi University wins provincial choir contest

Shanxi University's folk choir was awarded first prize in the academy group at a provincial choral competition held on May 21.
This contest, entitled "Spring of Three Jin", is the highest level choral contest in Shanxi province, which has been held every year since 2006.

This year, it attracted around 400 teams participating to compete in four groups which are primary and middle schools, colleges, simultaneous voice, mixed voice. Finally, 61 teams made it through to the final round.
Marking the 10th anniversary of the competition, which has been recognized at home and abroad, the organizers spoke of their desire to spread choral and cultural activities to the wider public.
Shanxi University's choir was set up in 2013 with members composed of students majoring vocal music. The choir focuses on singing local folk songs.
