Shanxi University's vice party chief Li Sidian was invited to pay a visit to Rice University in the US from July 7 to 20, during which he also attended 2016 International Conference on Chemical Bonding.

During the visit, Li had discussions with Professor Boris Yakobson and his research group about new nanometer materials. They also discussed exchange visits for teachers and students between both schools and spoke about cooperating on projects.

Rice University is renowned for its chemical research on nanometer materials such as Borospherenes, Borophenes and Borotubenes.

Professor Boris Yakobson has visited Shanxi University two times previously, which helped to establish communication and cooperation schemes in the field of boryl nanometer materials.

During the 2016 International Conference on Chemical Bonding, Li delivered a speech where he spoke about the pioneering research achievements Shanxi University has made on related fields.
