The fact that Shanxi University was asked to help organize the event showed how well recognized and respected the university now was, Jia argued.
The university, he emphasized, has become an important base for the province’s computer science research and staff training for more than three decades. He outlined some major accomplishments, including the State Key Laboratory of Computational Intelligence and Information Processing approved by the Ministry of Education, the Big Data Mining and Smart Techs Collaborative Innovation Center of the province, listed in the province’s preponderant disciplines development project. And a string of software and systems the university has developed have been applied to the province’s coal, tourism, railway and other sectors with significant results.
Jia concluded his speech by looking at the prospects for jointly boosting China’s computing industry with all attendees at the conference.
The China National Computer Congress (CNCC) was initiated by China Computer Federation (CCF) in 2003 and is held annually. It is China’s biggest and foremost symposium for academic, technological and industrial exchanges in the computing field. Every year, recipients of the prestigious Turing Award given by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), celebrated domestic computer experts, and entrepreneurs, are invited for discussions with the attendees. |
