SXU boosts links with UCC

Yang Jun, vice president of Shanxi University, visited Beijing for a cultural event at the Irish Embassy on Oct 21. The event was held to promote the partnership with its sister school, University College Cork (UCC), at the invitation of UCC’s President Michael Murphy.

Yang talked with Murphy about the achievements of both universities since the establishment of friendly relations, as well as the prospects for future cooperation.

Both universities agreed to expand their exchange students program to increase communication between lecturers and researchers.

University College Cork – National University of Ireland, Cork (UCC), was founded in 1845, and is one of the oldest universities in the country. Amongst the QS World University Rankings, UCC is ranked highly. As an internationally renowned comprehensive university, it has about 20,000 enrolled undergraduates and postgraduates, with more than 3,000 overseas students from 90 countries. The preponderant disciplines include food science, computing and information technology, business and finance, biotechnology, biomedicine, electrical and electronic engineering, and accounting. The university’s Tyndall National Institute is one of the leading European research institutions in the field of information and communication technologies. It has built up relations with China’s top higher educational agencies, such as Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and China Foreign Affairs University.
