Shanxi University President Jia Suotang visited China’s prestigious Xiamen University for Communications to discuss school development plans on Nov 21.

Xiamen University Vice President Ye Shiman met with the Shanxi University delegation at the meeting. Ye praised Shanxi University for its historic prominence among China’s higher education institutions in the modern times. He especially noted the two schools’ long-established partnership in talent cultivation, academic studies, and community service. He said the university would continue its efforts and make it a world-leading research institution during the 13th Five-Year Plan Period.

The investigation group received a report on Xiamen University’s overall reform project, made by Zhang Jian’an, director of Xiamen University’s Development and Planning Office. President Jia Suotang extolled the university for its long standing reputation and expertise in educational sectors. He admitted Shanxi University’s accomplishments but also the gap contrasted with renowned institutions at home and abroad in the 12th Five-Year Plan Period. Shanxi University, he said, has aimed to be a regionally distinctive academic institution through integrated restructuring.

The two sides exchanged opinions around issues including student education and training, discipline development, optimal management of fixed assets, and scientific research at the seminar.
