SXU wins awards at Shanxi chess and cards contest

Shanxi University students won honors and awards at the Shanxi chess and cards competition 2016, which concluded at Shanxi Normal University on Nov 20.

The competition was co-sponsored by Shanxi College Students Federation, Shanxi Province College Students Association and Shanxi Provincial Chess Administration Center. The two-day event attracted 270 players from 13 Chinese higher education institutions, including Taiyuan University of Technology and Shanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Thirty-four students, along with two leaders and four teachers, represented Shanxi University to compete at contract bridge (qiao pai), Go (wei qi) and Chinese chess. Two contract bridge teams won the first and second titles in the team events. The Go team won first place in the women’s individual contest, and came second in the group competition. The Chinese chess team of the school ranked fourth in the finals.
