Shanxi University's men's basketball team successfully defended its champions title in the Northwest Division of the Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBA) on March 31, beating Xi'an Jiaotong University 77-55.

The win was an fine achievement for Shanxi, with the five-year-old team retaining its title as "King of the Northwest”.

Shanxi did not start well, trailing a 1-8 early in the game, but its offence soon got into stride and the team led 25-14 at the end of the first quarter.

In the next three periods, Shanxi kept the lead with good defense and high-tempo offence to win by a big margin.
