The preliminary contest of the 2018 National College Liquor Tasting Skills Competition (Shanxi Division) concluded at Shanxi University (SXU) in Taiyuan on Sept 15.

Han Yonghong, vice-chancellor of Shanxi University, and Du Xiaowei, chief engineer of Shanxi Xinghuacun Brewery Co, attended the event.

More than 180 teachers and students from School of Life Sciences of Shanxi University participated in the opening ceremony.

Han congratulated the successful organization of the event and welcomed officials from Shanxi Xinghuacun Brewery Co. He pointed out that the liquor tasting competition provides an opportunity for the cooperation between schools and liquor companies. The cooperation can help build a platform for the combination of liquor production, research and learning.

Du spoke highly on the teaching quality and students’ comprehensive ability, and praised the achievements made by students from School of Life Sciences. He hopes for Shanxi University and liquor companies to work together in promoting the development of the liquor industry.
