Cheng Fangqing, vice-president of Shanxi University (SXU), was appointed as a member of the council of Shanxi Research Institute of China Engineering Science and Technology Development Strategy, at the institute's founding ceremony in Taiyuan, on Oct 18.

Founded by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Shanxi Provincial Government, the institute is a non-profit academic organization and a regional think tank in engineering technology, which organizes experts to conduct research focusing on socioeconomic conditions and the technological advancement of engineering, boosting local innovation.
