The 14th Symposium on the National Circular Economy and Eco-industry and the annual meeting of the Industrial Ecology Economics and Technology Committee of the China Ecological Economics Association were held at Shanxi University from Aug 19 to 20.
The symposium is a response to President Xi Jinping’s development strategy focusing on innovation, coordination, environmental protection, opening-up, and sharing. It consisted of one main venue and four sub-venues.
Hot topics such as clean and efficient use of coal energy in Shanxi province, transformation of the resource-based economy, exploration of new energy sources, clean production, circular economies, recycling of coal waste, and secondary resource recycling, were discussed at the symposium.
More than 200 experts, scholars, and company representatives were invited to give presentations on research being done in their respective fields. Among the participants were academics Qian Yi and Jin Yong from Tsinghua University.

The report addressed issues related to China's resources and environment and proposed remanufacturing, building eco-industrial parks, recycling industrial waste, and sorting garbage.
