SXU holds Confucius Institute meeting with UNC Charlotte

The third council meeting of the Confucius Institute co-established by Shanxi University (SXU) and the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte was held at SXU on Oct 24, through a teleconference.
Huang Guitian, president of SXU, Zhou Xiaoji, vice-president of SXU, teachers from the university’s office for international cooperation and exchanges, and representatives from UNC Charlotte attended the meeting.
Huang outlined the exchanges that had taken place between the two universities since the Confucius Institute was set up in 2017, and expressed his confidence in the institute’s future.
Zhou said that SXU would fully support the development of the organization, and pledged his support for more academic and cultural exchanges.
The annual report of the Confucius Institute and appropriation budget for the next year were discussed at the meeting.
Confucius Institutes are nonprofit public institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. They aim to promote Chinese language and culture around the world. By the end of 2018, more than 540 Confucius Institutes had been established in over 150 countries and regions.
