Singapore university professor presents report at SXU

On the invitation of the Institute of Biomedicine of Shanxi University, professor Philip Ingham from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore made an academic visit to SXU on Nov 28, according to officials.
Vice-principal Zhang Tiancai on behalf of Shanxi University conveyed a warm welcome to professor Ingham.
Zhang expressed his sincere admiration for Ingham’s outstanding academic and scientific research achievements, and high academic status in the field of developmental science.
Zhang also expressed his hopes for cooperation on biomedical personnel training and scientific research between Ingham and the Institute of Biomedicine of SXU.
Professor Ingham presented an academic report entitled "From Flies to Fishes to Clinics" and shared his learning and research experiences at the United Kingdom’s Cambridge University, Imperial College and Oxford University.
About Philip Ingham
Professor Philip Ingham is an internationally renowned developmental biologist, a member of the Royal Society, the British Medical Association and the European Society of Molecular Biology. He is also an honorary member of the Royal College of Physicians.
Ingham has made a very important contribution to the field of developmental biology. For the first time, he revealed the Hedgehog, an important signaling pathway. This result was recognized by the leading British scientific journal Nature in 2004 as one of the 24 landmark research achievements of developmental biology in the 20th century.
To date, professor Ingham has published more than 180 academic papers in the world's top journals.
For his great achievements in developmental biology, Professor Ingham received the British Genetics Medal in 2005, and received the Waddington Medal in 2014 – which represents the highest level of developmental biology in the world.
Currently, Professor Ingham is an especially appointed foreign expert of Shanxi province.
