Shanxi University recently had a huge success at a prestigious nationwide competition, according to elated SXU university officials.

The men's water polo team from SXU successfully defended its championship title at the 3rd National University Water Polo Competition -- and the women’s team won second place -- which concluded at Tongji University in Shanghai on Dec 9.

In addition, in the competition Zhang Xining from SXU was recognized as best goalkeeper and Cao Zhiwei won the title of most valuable player.

SXU’s water polo team coach Chen Anping and player Shang Yuanyuan, represented the team for an interview on CCTV5, the state broadcaster's sports channel.
