Hubei university seeks closer ties with SXU

A delegation led by Li Yuanyuan, principal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, paid a visit to Shanxi University on Jan 5 to seek further cooperation, in the wake of an agreement signed about two weeks ago, SXU officials said.
At a meeting held the same day, the two sides discussed specific cooperation in issues such as the development of academic disciplines, teacher and student training, scientific research and international cooperation.
They also focused on the subject developments in physics, optical engineering, computer science and technology and environmental science and engineering.
Principal Huang Guitian on behalf of SXU conveyed a warm welcome to the delegates and expressed his gratitude for the support offered by Huazhong University of Science and Technology on the development of academic courses.
Founded in 1952, Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a comprehensive research university that is located in Wuhan, in central Hubei province.
SXU officials said it has rich experience in the development of major national science and technology infrastructure platforms such as the National Optoelectronics Research Center, the Pulsed Magnetic Field Science Center and the Precision Gravity Measurement Research Facility.
Before the meeting, the delegation visited the history museum at Shanxi University to learn about its track record in administration, development paths, cultural background, as well as the overall contributions made by SXU to the development of China’s higher education.
The delegation also visited the State Key Laboratory of Quantum Optics and Optical Quantum Devices and listened to a report presented by Zhang Jing, director of the laboratory, on scientific research, technology and product development.
