Han Zheng, professor with the Institute of Optoelectronics at Shanxi University, was recently included on the annual list of the MIT Technology Review's Innovators Under 35 in China.

The internationally prestigious list was unveiled at the Young Technology Leaders Summit held in Shaoxing, in East China's Zhejiang province, on Dec 10.

The MIT Technology Review magazine is wholly owned by the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US and is editorially independent of the university.

It picks 35 top innovators under the age of 35 each year. The list aims to recognize scientists, researchers and technology entrepreneurs worthy of attention -- and to call on the public to understand, respect and support them in their cause for changing the future.

The list is divided into five categories: pioneers, visionaries, inventors, entrepreneurs and humanitarians.

Han Zheng is mainly engaged in research into micro-nano structure innovations and function control innovations for mesoscopic devices. He uses two-dimensional functional materials to manufacture new types of nanoelectronics devices, achieves breakthroughs in semiconductor technology with new atomic-level manufacturing routes and finds new solutions for transistor technology.

Han has had a series of original achievements. He has shown many novel physical phenomena in new semiconductor structures at the nanometer scale by designing special structures or borrowing traditional macroscopic semiconductor device paradigms and miniaturizing them to nanometer scale.

Han was selected in the pioneers category for his research into nanoelectronics devices.
