Shanxi University contributes voice to Shanxi Provincial Two Sessions

Political advisors and legislators of Shanxi University actively participated in fourth session of the 12th Shanxi Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the fourth session of the 13th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress, namely Shanxi Provincial Two Sessions, which were held in Taiyuan, capital city of North China's Shanxi province, from Jan 19 to 23.
To help the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) be better implemented in Shanxi, political advisors and legislators of the university offered their constructive suggestions through proposals, motions, and group discussions. Issues they raised in the sessions included energy transition, education, talents attraction, ecological restoration, and intellectual property rights.
Professor Cheng Fangqin, vice president of Shanxi University and member of the CPPCC Shanxi Committee, discussed energy transition. "The first step to beautify Shanxi is to promote the green economy by boosting technological innovation and a forming green lifestyle," she said. "New industrial patterns should be created to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and reach the target of carbon neutrality."
The issues of talents and education in Shanxi were also discussed at the two sessions. Professor Ren Jianguo, associate director of the Research Center for Fine Chemical Engineering of Shanxi University and member of the CPPCC Shanxi Committee, noted that in addition to attracting more talented graduates from other provinces, Shanxi needs to give equal priority to local graduates, especially to those with degrees from "Double First-Class" universities.
Professor He Tianping, president of the School of International Education and Exchanges at Shanxi University and member of the CPPCC Shanxi Committee, said in the group discussion that political advisors of the university have greatly contributed during the third session of the 12th CPPCC Shanxi Committee in 2020, with a total of 1,341 proposals submitted and 1,126 of them recorded.
