Shanxi University (SXU) signed a cooperation agreement with Shanxi Dadi Environment Investment Holdings Co on Feb 9 to jointly develop first-class technological innovation platforms.

According to the agreement, the two sides will build Dadi College of the Environment, Dadi Institute for the Ecological and Environmental Industry and Shanxi Laboratory for the Yellow River at the university, carrying out cooperation in personnel training, collaborative research projects and the commercialization of technological achievements.

Shanxi Laboratory for the Yellow River will be committed to promoting interdisciplinary integration and disciplinary innovation. It will gather high-level professional teams at home and abroad and solve critical technical problems such as environmental management and intensive water conservation and utilization in the Yellow River's middle reaches. The goal is to create a research center for ecological protection and pollution control in the Yellow River basin with international influence.

Dadi College of the Environment will build a new system for cultivating innovative inter-disciplinary engineering professionals and provide intelligence support for major national development strategies.

Dadi Institute for the Ecological and Environmental Industry will focus on conducting scientific research and practical talent training related to the enterprise's key industrial technology and core techniques, developing demonstrative industrial technology projects for solid waste resource utilization, ecological restoration in mining areas and land treatment. The intention is to promote industrial transformation and upgrading in Shanxi and China at large.
