Shanghai travelers can get to Mount Wutai by train, bus, plane or by car.
Ⅰ. Train
Trains require more time but are safer and more economical so, many people prefer them. But, because there is no direct train to Mount Wutai Mountain, passengers need to transfer a bus at Taiyuan. The details are as follows:
1. Train to Taiyuan
Train Train number Z96 departs shanghai at 19:22 and arrives at 08:39, a 13 hour 17min ride.
Train number K372 departs at 20:21 and arrives at 16:43, for 20 hours 22 min.
2. Bus from Taiyuan to Wutai Mountain
From Taiyuan, you can take a bus or taxi to Taiyuan from the Long Distance Bus StationMountain . Tickets cost RMB67 yuan and the journey takes 4 to 5 hours.
Ⅱ. Bus
Some Vpeople prefer to travel by bus, so they can enjoy the scenery along the way. But, there is no direct bus from Shanghai to Wutai Mountain, so you need to transfer at Taiyuan:
1. The Taiyuan bus goes from Shanghai Terminal, with ticket prices varying.
2. From Taiyuan to Mount Wutai Mountain.
In Taiyuan, you can get a bus at the Long Distance Bus Station Mountain, where tickets cost RMB67 yuan, and the journey takes 4 to 5 hours.
Ⅲ. Plane
Taking a plane saves time and lets you see Wutai Mountain more quickly.

2. Bus from Taiyuan to Wutai Mountain
In Taiyuan, you can get a bus at the Long Distance Bus Station Mountain, where tickets cost RMB67 yuan, and the journey takes 4 to 5 hours.
After arriving in Taiyuan, visitors may take a bus to Taiyuan Long Distance Bus Station, then go to Wutai Mountain by bus. The ticket price is RMB67 each person, and the journey takes around 4 to 5 hours.
Ⅳ. Driving
1. Wuning Rd from Shanghai to Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, then A5 highway to Yanjiang Expressway, across Jiangyin Bridge to Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, then Dezhou , then Hengshui to Shijiazhuang, in Hebei, to Taiyuanin, Shanxi then Xinzhou to TaihuaiT.
2. Additional
a. Wutai Mountain is covered with white snow and breathtaking beauty, but the weather can be bad, so it is recommended that you take clothing to keep warm.
b. Wutai Mountain is a sacred place, so visitors should not make too much noise or take along meat.
c. Check the car before setting out, especially the antifreeze.
d. Don't pick up strangers along the way.
