Mount Wutai, a holy land for Buddhists in North China's Shanxi province, witnessed a record number of visitors during the Spring Festival from Feb 7 to 13.
A total of 88,500 tourists visited the mountain to pray for good fortune in the new year during the week-long holiday, an increase of 47.5 percent compared with last year.
Its ticket revenue soared to 6.7 million yuan ($1 million), about 98 percent higher than the same period of the previous year.
Its major tourist sites such as Wuye Temple and Shuxiang Temple also remained popular, attracting a large number of visitors.
Known as one of China's four famous Buddhist mountains, Mount Wutai boasts the biggest temple complex in East Asia. It is home to 47 well-preserved temples.
