Committee set up to protect rights, interests of judges
China's Judge Association has set up a new committee to protect the rights and interests of judges.
The committee is comprised of senior judges from the Supreme People's Court and local courts. Deputies to the National People's Congress, members of the national committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, lawyers, legal experts and professionals will also be invited to the committee.
According to a regulation issued by the State Council, or China's Cabinet, in July 2016, those who disturb or hinder the judicial action, or threaten, insult or revenge judicial personnel must be severely punished in accordance with the law.
The founding of the committee, as part of the implementation of spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, is an important step in safeguarding the legitimate interest of judges.
