Jiang Bixin, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court and president of the Third Circuit Court, made the remarks at the International Symposium on Juridical Protection of Biodiversity.

“Biodiversity is an important part of environmental protection,” Jiang said, demanding closer and in-depth exchanges between China and the international community regarding legal theory and judicial practice.

Since the Convention on Biological Diversity was passed in June, 1992, regional and international cooperation on the protection of biodiversity has achieved fruitful results, according to Jiang.

All members have made significant contributions to the advancement and protection of global environment governance, he noted.

China, with a long tradition of harmonizing with nature, has also achieved great results in the cause of biodiversity protection, Jiang added.
