Traditional folk art
Dongping boasts a rich variety of unique folk art, including folk music and operas such as Shangdong Qingshu, Zhuizi, Shangdong Kuaishu (fast talk), Yugu (fishing drum), Lianhualuozi, and Dagu (big drum); folk dances with a long history such as Longdeng (dragon lamp dance), lion dance, homage to the river god, stilt, boating on land, Datouwawa (big head baby mask dance), wresting, corrupt officers’ ride, old man pushing cart, back-facing donkey ride, Yangge Dance, driving the donkey.
In addition to the above mentioned art forms, Dongping folk operas also feature Sijiaxuan (a homemade musical instrument) and Zaobang (Chinese date drum) born shortly after the founding of new China. Paper cutting, mud sculpture and acrobat also have a long history.
