Dongping marshal art has a long history, and played a role in founding the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907). An example is Cheng Yaojin, the general of Tang Dynasty whose hometown was Banjiudian Village.
Dongping people also practice modern marshal art boxing, such as Shaolin Boxing, Meihua Boxing (plum blossom boxing), Maifu Boxing (ambush boxing), Tongbi Boxing, Tanglang Boxing (praying mantis boxing), Cha Boxing, Hou Boxing (monkey boxing), Baibu Boxing (hundred steps boxing), Bagua Boxing, Ditang Boxing, Taiji Boxing, Liujiaosi Boxing, Sitongsibi Boxing, Jieda Boxing, Duanda Boxing and 18 Luohan Boxing.
Since the 15th year in the Republic of China, Dongping has dispatched marshal art teams to marshal art competition in Shandong province and has won many grand prizes.
