Xintai city, the hinterland of Tai'an and Linyi, is in the middle of East China's Shandong province. It lies to the south of Mount Tai, to the north of Qufu, the hometown of Confucious and adjoins the coastal cities of East Shandong province.

Xintai has profound cultural deposits. The excavation of teeth fossil of the Wuzhutai Homo sapiens (living 30000-50000 years ago), proves that the city is among the earliest civilized ones of the ancient Dongyi region (or Eastern Yi, developed mainly from Shandong Peninsula from Neolithic to the Zhou Dynasty). Lotus Mountain is named as the Mount Putuo (one of the four sacred Buddhist mountains in China) in the North. The mountain is full of particular stones, waterfalls and deep valleys, with the feature of solemnity of mountains in North China and the soft atmosphere of water in South China. Lotus Mountain, Xintai city

There are numerous resources in Xintai. The reserves of coal proved-up presently are 1.6 billion tons.
