Taishan named a national foreign trade transformation base
Taishan district in Tai'an, Shandong province was recognized as a national foreign trade transformation and upgrading base for the textile and garment industry, according to a list recently released by the Ministry of Commerce.
Being designated a foreign trade transformation and upgrading base, which is a platform for the integration of industry and trade, will play a significant role in promoting the innovative development of foreign trade in Taishan district, local officials said.
After years of development, the textile industry has become a leading sector in Taishan district. In addition, the local government is promoting the upgrading of the industry and green development.
The district plans to accelerate the integration development of industrial clusters, independent brands, cross-border e-commerce, and overseas marketing.
It has issued supporting policies to create a favorable environment for industrial clusters. More efforts have been made in expanding brand influence to enhance competitiveness.
The district has established a complete foreign trade service chain. The import and export volume of textiles and garments in the district increased by more than 12 percent year-on-year, accounting for more than 40 percent of the city's total.
To date, the district is home to 66 textile and garment enterprises, with an annual output value of 16.07 billion yuan ($2.49 billion), as well as more than 100 patents and 15 independent brands.
