Nepal and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on scholarship scheme in Nepali capital Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Qiu Guohong, Chinese ambassador to Nepal, Jin Runcheng, Director General of Education Commission of Tianjin Municipal Government, and Secretary of the Ministry of Education Ram Swarup Sinha on behalf of the Nepali government signed "the MoU On Enlarging Reception of International Students from Nepal Between Tianjin Municipal Government and Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal".
Nepali Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and the visiting delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), led by a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and Party chief of China's Tianjin municipality Zhang Gaoli were also present on the signing ceremony.
The new scholarship scheme is to strengthen traditional friendship between Nepal and China, and promote educational exchange and cooperation between the two countries, stated the MoU.
According to the MoU, Tianjin Municipal government agrees to receive students from Nepal to study in Tianjin universities, and to increase the number of such students from Nepal up to 200.
Tianjin Municipal Government provides full scholarship for 20 excellent students from Nepal to study in Tianjin.
According to admission requirements, Ministry of Education of Nepal shall be in charge of recommending the candidates for scholarship, and Tianjin Municipal government shall be in charge of the Nepali students' admission in local universities as well as all issues concerning their scholarship.
Tianjin Municipal government and the Ministry of Education of Nepal will begin direct consultations as early as possible to finalize a special agreement of cooperation with all the details and modality for the implementation of this MOU.
