At present, post-quake tourism industry has revived and thrived in Sichuan. On the evening of Sep. 11, China Sichuan International Cultural Tourism Festival 2009 opens grandly in Du Jiangyan city, Chengdu, Sichuan province.

Taking on a brand-new look, tourism industry of Sichuan is all open to guests from around the world. This grand event is sponsored by China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and People's Government of Sichuan Province, and organized by Sichuan Provincial Tourism Bureau and People's Government of Chengdu municipality.

Liu Qibao, Secretary of Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee and Director of Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People's Congress, declared the opening of the China Sichuan International Cultural Tourism Festival 2009. Jiang Jufeng, Vice-secretary of Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee and Governor of Sichan Province, and CNTA Chairman Shao Qiwei, as well as other official leaders addressed the opening ceremony.

Jiang Jufeng, Vice-secretary of Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee and other official leaders attended the opening ceremony of the tourism festival; other present at this grand event include: provincial/municipal leaders in charge of tourism industry and part of leaders of provincial/municipal tourism bureaus from Gansu, Qinghai, Chongqing, and Anhui; media and travel agency representatives from Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Germany, Australia, China Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, as well as other countries and regions; persons in charge at all levels in Sichuan, and media representatives in Sichan and those dispatched to the province by the Central Government.

The objectives of the festival are to fully display the new image of post-quake of Sichuan, to promote opening and cooperation, to integrate various resources, to speed up regional tourism cooperation, and to set up a major platform for domestic and international tourism cooperation and trade.

A group contract-signing ceremony for 67 tourism projects covering inviting investment, regional cooperation, and special support for certain renovation was launched at the opening ceremony. It is said that the overall contract amount of the 67 projects (including 39 inviting investment projects, 2 regional cooperation projects, and 4 special support for certain renovation projects, as well as 22 other projects) reaches 14.788 billion yuan, with investors from Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing, Shandong, Guangdong, Zhejiang, and etc, which has carried out concrete measures put forth in the “Attracting Powerful Investors” included in the “Five Moves” at the beginning of this year, in order to speed up the restoration of tourism industry in Sichuan province.
