Tianjin Tian Ma irresponsible for any debt incurred prior to the transfer of the Cambodian ship M/V SURF, according to a notice released bythe Tianjin Maritime Court of the People's Republic a notice on China Daily, an English newspaper.

The notice read as follows.
According to the Special Maritime Prodecure Law of the PRC and other applicable regulations, this court had designated the M/V SURF Auction Committee to be in charge of publicly auctioning on the Cambodian ship M/V SURF of SURF MANAGEMENT CORPORATION. The ship was sold to the Tianjin Tian Ma Shipbreaking Engineering Co Ltd at a public auction on September 22, 2009 and went through ship transfer procedures at 10:25 on October 10, 2009.
Since the ownership of the ship M/V SURF has been legally transferred, the buyer of the ship will not be responsible for any debt incurred prior to the ship's transfer. The original ship owner should cancel their registration with the original registration authority. The transfer of the ship ownership will not be affected, even if the original ship owner fails to cancel the original registration.
