The 30th annual plenary meeting of InterAction Council concluded in north China's port city of Tianjin on May 12, adopting a communique about its recommendations on a series of global issues.

The communique said the world is undergoing a profound shift in power and ideas, and in order to achieve a better future, all states should cooperate with conscious and concerted efforts to resolve the financial crisis, address environment issues and avoid conflict.

At a press conference held after the three-day meeting, InterAction Council chairman Jean Chretien said the world is closely inter-connected, therefore, the development of one country needs both its own strength and transnational cooperation.

Chretien said the communique will be sent to all governments to influence their policymaking. "That's the contribution of the InterAction Council," he said.

Established in 1983, the InterAction Council is an independent global organization that brings former world leaders together to come up with solutions to global issues.
