Smoking ban reinforced

Management and Enforcement Methods of Smoking Control and Inspection in Tianjin will be issued soon. The Smoking Control Regulations will be more specified and prevalent in all aspects of people's life.

According to the Methods, the health authority will inspect organizations and business operations on establishing smoking banning rules, arranging smoking banning inspectors and setting up obvious No Smoking labels in specific areas. In restaurants, smoking rooms or area should be established and separated from the non-smoking area. In smoking areas, there should be a separate ventilation system. The sanitation authority should inspect all public venues in its jurisdiction scope at least twice in a quarter.

According to Shao Xiaojun, Deputy Director of Tianjin health authority, regional health authorities should reinforce the system of dealing with reports and complaints. Upon receiving the calls of reports, the inspectors should set out to the venue immediately for collecting evidence and issuing fines. Individuals who violate the rule will be fined from 50 to 200 yuan ($7.9 to 31.6).
