From July 1, "yellow labeled vehicles", which refer to vehicles with highly pollutant emissions, will be banned from the roads in the downtown area (within middle-ring) and part of the Binhai New Area.
With the fast growth of automobiles in Tianjin, the air pollution caused by gas emissions has worsened, greatly affecting the environment and people’s health. So far, there have been 204 million autos including 290,000 yellow labeled ones in Tianjin.
The pollutant emission of a yellow labeled car is equal to that of fourteen Guo III green labeled cars. As a response to people's complaints about the yellow labeled cars, the government decided to reinforce the control of automobile emission with an emphasis on the yellow labeled cars.
