Wudang Mountain has been classified as "the most popular scenic spot in 2011"

Sina-travel channel (travel.sina.com) recently announced the list of "the most popular scenic spots in 2011". Wudang Mountain was in the top three among other domestic tourism regions. Scenic spots including Lijiang, Wuzhen, Changbai Mountain, Gulangyu Island were also on the awards list.
Wudang Mountain is considered World Culture Heritage, a famous national Taoist holy place, and a National Key Scenic Spot. The natural beauty of Wudang includes 72 serried peaks, 36 perilous escarpments, 24 mountain creeks, 11 marvelous caves, 10 peculiar geographical rock formations and 9 interesting stones. Wudang is known as "the finest mountain under heaven" due to its ancient architecture and scenery.
In 2011, the tourist reception in Wudang reached 3.55 million, achieving an increase of 52.2% year-on-year. The present tourism annual amount is 14 times as much as in 2003. What’s more, Wudang has been classified as the National AAAAA Tourism Area and has won the honors of "the top 10 famous scenic spot in China", the most popular travel destination for Cantonese" and the, "the top 10 tourism card of Hubei province" .
The vote for "the most popular scenic spot in 2011" was organized by the Sina-travel channel on its micro-blog platform. Many cyber citizens participated in the vote. The voting results were announced during the Award Ceremony of the "Sina Network Traveling Festival of 2011" on Jan 12, 2012.
