The Wudang Mountains Tourism Bureau ordered its guides to take an annual assessment test. 690 guides participated and 130 of them failed. The bureau developed a specific and detailed assessment on rules according to the tour guide employment market in 2011. The assessment included a knowledge test on its main attractions, as well as Taichi Lake, Wudang museum and Wudang Taoism.
Those who couldn’t pass the assessment had their official guide cards revoked. The annual assessment is considered an effective way to improve tourism services. Meanwhile, it will warn travel agencies to pay more attention to continuing education and make tourist guides improve their professional ethics, and service skills.
