The launching ceremony of the Taichi Cultural Industries Center, jointly built by Wudang district and Landmark Entertainment Group from the United States, was held on Sept 17. Mike Kent, the 31st US commerce secretary; Tony Christopher, president and CEO of Landmark Group; and Li Faping, secretary of the Wudang working committee and chairman of Taichi Lake Group of Wudang Yang Qingshan, attended the ceremony.

Christopher introduced the design proposal for Wudang Kung Fu City at the ceremony. He led his team over the past year to creatively develop and select the project design plan.

Wudang Kung Fu City is expected to be the first amusement park themed around Taichi Kung Fu in the world. It is also the first time China will use a Hollywood entertainment approach to promote its cultural industries.

According to the design proposal, tourists will begin their Taichi Kung Fu tour from a magnificent shopping mall. The main part of the city will include three theme parks: Xiuxing Valley, Knight-Errant World and Master Dreamland. The parks will bring a splendid experience to tourists. In the city, children can visit the McDull Kung Fu School and adults can enjoy live-action at the Zhang Sanfeng Kung Fu show. In addition, landscapes such as Taichi Spring and tree teahouses will provide tourists with a unique travel experience.

Wudang also signed an agreement with Hollywood to create the live-action performance Taichi Legend, another crucial cultural industry project. It is predicted to be completed in three years with a total investment of 1 billion yuan ($158.5 million). The performance will take place at Yuzhen Palace, which will be surrounded on three sides by water after elevation construction finishes.
