The China Ropeway Association recently gave the Wudang Mountains' Taihe ropeway a "5S" level passenger transport safety service quality ranking on Nov 11.
The annual conference of the China Ropeway Association, held in Shiyan city, revealed that Chinese passenger transport ropeway business has increased rapidly recently. At present, there are 550 overhead passenger transport ropeways and nearly 600 traction-type ski ropeways in operation. On average, 26 ropeways are added each year.
In accordance with national standards, safety service quality for passenger ropeways is divided into five levels, "5S" being the highest. So far, there are only 14 "5S" ropeways in China, including the Taihe ropeway in the Wudang Mountains.
The Taihe ropeway in the Wudang Mountains has safely transported nearly 10 million tourists since it was completed and put into operation in 1998.
